I didn't realize that people couldn't comment unless they were registered...everything should be okay for you all to comment WITHOUT being on blogspot...although it's a little late now
I'm going to try and make this short because I need to be reading Henry IV, part one and showering and some point (not simultaneously, mind you).
Let's see...Shakespeare is kind of eating up any time that I would have had to relax/write emails/write blog entries, so that's fun (especially since a lot of other classes seem to not have any homework). I have already read the entirety of Richard III, and by tomorrow I will have read all of Henry IV, part one. It's SO much reading and it's difficult to find a time/place to do it. The flat gets noisy because if one person speaks you hear it throughout the flat and there aren't really any bookstore/coffeeshop places like I was hoping. One coffee place stays open until 8, so I went there on Tuesday night to read. I could read in the afternoon, but since the two people I hang out with (Amber and Wendy) get done with class at 10:30 and don't have homework, they explore the city in the afternoon. Oh well, it was better last night because everyone realized that it needed to be quiet so people can read (Amy's in Brit Lit).
Anyway, Tuesday morning was the first day I had to walk to class by myself (no one leading) and I got lost. I turned left and I should have gone right. I ended up at Hyde Park, and then turned left again (WRONG!). Luckily, I looked at my little map at one point and realized the road I was on went straight to the college almost. I was only 5 minutes late to class, which is impressive for having gone way too north and west.
I have been walking A LOT and I have a feeling that I'm going to lose quite a bit of weight. I'm not eating as much because food is expensive (although cooking in the room worked fairly well) and I'm walking everywhere. Yesterday, after class (which is about a 20-30 minute walk away), I was walking back to the flat, ran into Wendy and Amber who were going to Hyde Park, and joined them. We walked to the park, and then through the park looking for the Diana Memorial Fountain and Peter Pan statue. Afterward, we went to Harrod's (MASSIVE department store...I'd say it rivals if not beats NYC's Macys...it has a sushi bar!) and then I went to a concert at the Royal College of Music. It was a pretty good concert: three of their best vocalists (Sweedish soprano, Irish baritone, and Welsh or Scottish soprano) sang about 40-50 minutes of music each. The Sweedish soprano had a very dark tone, it was beautiful and the Welsh/Scottish soprano sounded similar to American sopranos. I enjoyed the concert a lot, but then when I got back to the room (8:30) I read H4, part 1 until I went to bed around 11:30/12.
Well, I guess I'm going to shower now, but I'll try to post some pictures later. I'm going to read in Hyde Park this afternoon, so hopefully tonight I can put up some pictures. Cheers!
